The 8th international yacht race, fierce competition at sea with challenging cruises of 1,200 km in the East Sea. VinaCapital Group and CMG.ASIA co-sponsored and organized.
Departing from Victoria Harbor on October 17 in Hong Kong and ending with the closing ceremony on October 21 in Nha Trang. This is the eighth time the race has been co-organized by VinaCapital Group, Royal Sailing Club of Hong Kong, and partners, with the goal to promote Khanh Hoa marine tourism and make sailing races a popular sport activity.
This is the 8th time the Hong Kong – Nha Trang sailing race is held. Over the past 14 years, the information and images of the race have contributed to promoting the tourism potential and attracting more tourists to visit Nha Trang Bay. The Hong Kong – Nha Trang sailing race has made the coastal city, Nha Trang, become a household name in the region for marine sports and other tourism events. Through the race, opportunities will be created for new marine tourism along the coast of Vietnam. Although there are no specific statistics, this race has introduced some investments and other business opportunities in Khanh Hoa – Vietnam. This can be correlated with the businessmen and other qualified investors who compete in the race.
With the permission of Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee, Government Office, this year’s Hong Kong – Nha Trang sailing race has been prepared and organized to the highest level of professionalism. One of the new features of the race is welcoming and celebrating of the teams in Nha Trang city. In previous years, the racing boats anchored outside Hon Tre island and had to use canoes to bring crew members ashore. However this year, when the sailboats arrive at Nha Trang, they will directly dock at the Ana Marina. Currently, Ana Marina has a reserved water area of more than 6,700m2, with an average depth of 5m, and has a floating water terminal 165m long to accommodate 14 boats. It has created favorable conditions for welcome racing boats and the athletes on them.
Mr. Don Lam, General Director of VinaCapital Group said: “In 2004 when proposing the regular organization of an international yacht race to Vietnam, we expected this event to help promote the Central’s tourism with beautiful coastline, fresh environment and unique local culture to international visitors. We are very pleased to see that the Khanh Hoa people are excited about the race and this event is gradually becoming a part of the province’s culture and sport. Sailing is gradually developing in Nha Trang and some coastal cities. I hope these cities will become destinations for many international sports and tourism activities”.
