Tamer El-Guindy is returning to the position of head judge for the 3rd year of Muscle Contest Vietnam, he  has taken this role in 2017 and 2018 as well. This year  he will hold the same position and judge competitors as they take the stage.

Tamer El-Guindy was born on 28th June 1977 in São Paulo (Brazil). He was an avid soccer player, basketball player and swimmer, he had some success with it.. After that, he found a passion for bodybuilding and has been pursuing the sport ever since. Samir Bannout, Dorian Yates, Nasser El-Sonbaty and Kevin Levrone are muscular monuments that inspired and motivated Tamer El-Guindy to pursue his passion.

In 2018, due to the efforts and love of the sport which has won him many titles, Tamer El-Guindy was named as 1 of 30 of the most influential names in  the international professional bodybuilding community (according to the information of Generation Iron & Gaspari Nutrition). Moreover, he is also known by the nickname ‘The Razor’. Tamer currently is a professional bodybuilder of IFBB (International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness), who accompanies and promotes the world’s most prestigious bodybuilding tournament Mr. Olympia and the president of Muscle Contest Productions – the world’s largest fitness company. In this year, Tamer El-Guindy will continue to accompany Muscle Contest Vietnam 2019 competitors with the role as the Head of examiner.

Tamer El-Guindy was very excited to comment on the quality of the Vietnamese participants who attended MuscleContest 2019.

For the 3rd time participating as an examiner of Muscle Contest Vietnam, Tamer EI-Guindy is a not strange name in the international and Vietnamese bodybuilding enthusiasts community.

Hi Tamer, can you let me know what the difference is between bodybuilding in Vietnam and other countries in the world?

Firstly, I see bodybuilding in Vietnam has extraordinary competition. Specifically, there have been many candidates registered until now, this is an impressive number, and their quality is outstanding. At the upcoming event, 10 international professional athletes will come to Vietnam. I am so excited to meet the candidates at the Thank You party for the athletes which is at a swimming pool on Sunday, 18th August 2019, when MuscleContest finished.

Likewise, I think the organization of this year’s competition is generally better than previous years. In this third year, I believe that the candidates have better capacity than last year. It will have more professional Vietnamese bodybuilders compete in some categories which are for professional athletes along with other countries. It has proved that the quality of Vietnamese athletes is not left behind.

How do you evaluate Vietnamese candidates at MuscleContest Vietnam 2019?

I think the quality among Vietnamese competitors and other countries is not different. Although they came from different regions, I still see their great efforts. Vietnamese candidates could adapt and learn modern practice methods that are prevalent in the world and they are continuously improving.

Tamer gave optimistic feedback to the quality of Vietnamese’s competitors who are joining the 3rd Muscle Contest event in 2019.

In your opinion, what qualities does a bodybuilder need?

The first thing is determination. They also need to focus on their own diet. Lots of people think that concentrating on practice is enough, but the fact that the appropriate nutrition is important and they need to go with it.

Does bodybuilding have advantages or disadvantages?

I think most are pros. I think all athletes are learning new values about life: a lesson about determination, concentration, on time and the ability to make a self schedule, all of these things are quite useful for their life. For disadvantage, I do not think so, might be we need to know how to balance everything. This life needs balance; if we are too concentrated on something, it is not a good idea.

For the final question, how do you feel when this is your 3rd time being an examiner of MuscleContest in Vietnam?

I love this job, Vietnam is one of my favourite countries and I’m interested in being a judge of this year’s contest.
