Erin Stern- the queen of international professional bodybuilding shared her experience at Southeast Asia’s biggest bodybuilding event – Musclecontest Vietnam 2019 after convincingly winning a new category for her –  the IFBB Bikini Pro for women.

Muscle Contest Vietnam 2019 had great success at Ho Xuan Huong Stadium – 2 Ho Xuan Huong street, District 3, Ho Chi Minh city with over 300 athletes and 2000 people participating in the biggest bodybuilding contest in Southeast Asia. The night of the event on 17th August 2019, got the participation of lots of influencers in the fitness industry and the most particular one is “Wonder Woman” Erin Stern. She is a professional national athlete from Florida and has many impressive achievements. Erin Stern has won Ms. Figure Olympia 2 times, IFBB 14 times, and is the author of Bodybuilder’s Kitchen book which was loved by fitness enthusiasts. Likewise, Erin Stern has appeared on the cover of many reputable sport magazines. Because this is her first time in Vietnam, she was so happy, friendly, and excited with a bright smile always on her lips.  

Hi Erin Stern, congratulations on the IFBB Bikini Pro for females at Muscle contest Vietnam 2019. How do you feel now?

I’m so surprised and nearly cried due to happiness. When the judges called my number, I didn’t think it was me. I was surprised and paused for a moment on stage. Then I realised I was the winner and I was very excited.

About my performance tonight, I think I could do more, but this is a new category to me, I tried my best.

In my opinion, I have gone through a challenging journey, but it was the result of hard work. I think it takes hard times like that to achieve something.

What do you think about the quality of candidates today?

The quality of candidates this year is very good. Everyone has a good body. They are beautiful girls, and I’m so happy to have a  chance to meet so many lovely friends.

Before coming to this contest, I tried my best to have a good body shape. I practiced how to pose and perform on the stage. In the end, all is based on the evaluation from the judges. I think the contest has been successful and every candidate also had a good performance. I’m glad about my performance today.

What motivated you to become a winner today?

I think I want to be a model for women in general and tell them that women can have success in this industry. Try your best and do not be afraid to participate in professional contests, and do not give up. Definitely, we can make a sustainable career in the fitness industry, I can do it, so can you!

If there is advice for women to do bodybuilding or not, what will you say?

I don’t think we should be afraid to lift dumbbells. Start slowly, and of course, you can’t start difficult exercises straight away. Everyday practice a little bit to be more familiar. At the first time, it would be simple exercises such as walking. And then lift the dumbbells from easy to difficulty. I have done it for over 20 years. I realise my body becomes more beautiful day by day. Importantly, I feel I’m healthier, happier, and more confident.

I know that you are admired by lots of people, waiting for your appearance and they also gave you the nickname “Wonder Woman”, so do you have any pressure?

With the nickname that everyone called me, I don’t feel any depression. However, I feel happy and excited.

Is this Erin’s first time visiting Vietnam?

Yes, it is. I have heard about Vietnam a lot and today I’m here, it’s so wonderful.

How do you evaluate the organisation’s process in Vietnam and the competition here compared with other countries?

I’m very excited! MuscleContest Vietnam is not inferior to any other places in the world – very well organized, spectacular stage, everything is very professional.

What will you do after the competition?

I will stay here in the next few days to travel around this city, participate thank you party for MuscleContest Vietnam’ winners, which organised by  LEEP.APP and CMG.ASIA at the pool of the Reverie Saigon Hotel on Sunday night 18th August, then I will visit night market and Vietnamese cuisine. I really like this beautiful country.

Will you come back to Vietnam to join MuscleContest Vietnam one more?

Of course, I look forward to coming back and joining the contest next year!
