The first Muscle Contest Vietnam has crowned a winner

My Thuong (number 014) was crowned winner in two categories – Female Bodybuilding under 35 and Women’s Fitness Model in The first Muscle Contest Vietnam. For her this was a moment of great success, great spiritual encouragement and a display of her months of hard work to prepare for the competition.

My Thuong measured in Bust, Waist, Hip at 86-60-92 and height of 1m67. This has been a 5-6 year training and bodybuilding journey for My Thuong. Since secondary school, she has been an avid swimmer and spends time training at the gym. After years of training, she developed a passion for working out after seeing her body shape and the general health benefits she felt. My Thuong commented  “I am addicted, if I do not hit the gym for 2-3 days, I  start to feel a yearning for the gym and exercise”

She continued: “At times, I’ve felt sore but I didn’t give up. To compensate, I just rearranged my training plan to suit the condition of my body at that moment. I split my training based on different muscles groups. Saturday and Sunday, I take a rest”.

Like many people, My Thuong also felt uncomfortable about being judged as  “a girl who lifts”  but didn’t stop. “But I did not care what they said. How can I please everyone? I have my own passion, so I just did it. My family supported me and just advised me not to build bulky muscles as it’s not seen as an appropriate form of appearance in Southeast Asia” she said.

Along with  My Thuong, Muscle Contest Vietnam had a number of winners in each category. In the mens categories, male over 35-year-old belonged to Tran Nha (number 168), under 35 years old: Le Van Tien (number 155). The champion of over 35 years old was Vo Thi Phuong Hiep (number 001).
